ground duties jobs such as Ground Hostess, Check-in-Staff etc
or they can be sent into any other department in the airline
industry.

Examination procedure
The entire pilot training course is divided into two parts,
both having equal importance.
It is required
to pass a written examination in the above mentioned
aeronautical /technical subjects to fulfil the requirement to
undergo flying training either in India or abroad.
In order to qualify as a professional pilot a candidate is
required to undergo training in two parts as explained earlier
and obtain the different pilots’ licences, one after another
as follows:-

pilots licence (SPL) (Theory Course) (in India only)

Pilots Licence (PPL) (Theory Course + 60 hours of flying
experience)

Pilot’s Licence (CPL) (Theory Course + total of 200 hours of
flying experience)

Opportunities
PPL holders with a FRTO licence can fly as pilots-in-command
and carry passengers throughout India and abroad with proper
permission. Further a PPL holder can undergo training for CPL
to become a professional pilot and join as a pilot officer and
work with on of the employer companies like Air India
Airlines, Vayudoot, Coast Guard, ONGC agriculture aviation,
Flight services of state governments and other major
companies, Private airlines and of course hundreds of foreign
airlines. A pilot can also find jobs of aerial photography,
aerial display /advertisements etc, or become a test pilot,
check pilot or a pilot instructor and ground executive like
Airport manager etc. Throughout the aviation world by
conservative predictions there will be more than 96% of
employment available for the pilot licence holders in domestic
as well as international airlines operating from India. Other
avenues for pilot are with private / corporate aircraft
owners, B. S. F and flight schools.
Expected
Salaries
Pilots are highly paid professional when compared to employees
in other sectors in India. Starting with a salary of Rs.
40,000 per month approximately up to 3.5 lacks could be
earned. In a short span of time, a pilot can be promoted as
co- pilot and then to captain’s post where the salaries are in
the range of 1.5 lacks to 3.5 lacks per month depending on the
airlines.
